i cant get my emachine computer to detect a wifi signal

I cant get my emachine computer to detect a wifi signal what do I do ?I have a belkin n3oo wifi router and my computer wont detect its wifi

most laptops have a toggle switch along the "function" keys, make sure it's toggled on,
also alot of the emachines have a physical switch on the side, near usb ports etc, check it's on, if you have it.
best place to start!
