I just built my first computer and am trying to install windows 8.1 64bit to my ssd but I get a message saying that it can't write to that disk and that i need to enable disk controller. I've googled this problem and even read forum posts on toms hardware about it. I have made sure its ahci and the SATA ports are enabled and even though people debated if the boot drive needs to be in the first SATA port I out it there anyway. The only thing I haven't done that they suggested was update the firmware and bios. Which idk how to do without having a running operating system. However I did notice when I was checking ti make sure the SATA port was enabled that in BIOS it doesnt recognize my ssd. It only shows my optical drive. But when I have the windows disk in it shows my optical drive. I have gaZ97hd3 mobo and patriot pyro 120gb ssd. Sorry for typos on mobile. Please help!

Here is your manual: {English Version}

on the Bios Feature Tab of the bios: Disable Full screen logo. Set CSM Support to enabled. Disable Fast or ultra-fast boot. Set Boot Mode Selection to UEFI & Legacy.

on the peripherals tab of the bios: Set your sata ports mode to ahci.

Back on the Bios Features tab: add your SSD as the first boot device.

Save and exit.

To install windows, load your install media and during your boot process look for the message that asks you to Select the boot device (or similar) Its usually one of the function keys like F10. Press it and when the list pops up you select the drive that is your win8 install. Please note that if you see one that listed something like UEFI:Windows 8 on .... you probably should select that one over the one that is listed in the classic way { ex: Liteon Lh2323} to get the features of your uefi bios.

Let us know if that works

PS - after you get windows loaded, you can re-enable Fast/ultra-fast boot if you wish.

My only option booting is either P2: (optical drive) or UEFI: (optical drive) and if I disable the P2 and only do the UEFI it wont run the windows disc. My bios doesn't show the SSD only when I try to install windows does it show the ssd.

Update: So I switched around the SATA ports and now it is getting close but I get the error 0x8007045D when it starts to install. It is something like "the installation has failed please make sure you have all of the required files" and im doing this from a store bought Windows disc
