I have a 4790k with a be quiet Dark rock 3 cooler. I ran a test with prime 95 at 1.25 volts and my temps were maximum 68-70C. I have an Asus Z97-A Mobo and I have turbo mode on. When I set my multiplier to 44 or higher, the computer boots normally but Speedfan and RealTemp both read im still at 4.0 ghz. I dont know why my processor isnt going past 4.0 ghz. I even got the mobo and processor in a combo pack awhile ago at microcenter, so I would assume the mobo supports overclocking the processor. I don't know what to do, help please!!

Use CPU-Z and also look through BIOS to see what your PCU clock speeds are. What guide did you use to perform your overclock? Can you share your entire system's specs with us?

If you don't know what to do, it's best you don't do it...which is why we suggest you read through first and the execute later. Not the other way around.

My specs are ati 7970 gigabyte factory OC 3gb. G.skill 2x4gb sticks at 1600mhz. 1 128gb ssd. 1 500gb ssd. 1 750gb hdd. 4790k and the z97A mobo by asus.

Trust me i didnt do anything before doing research. I followed a guide step by step and its just not changing the clock speed. I used a youtube video and i also watched linus tech tips guide on overclocking it

This is probably because you didn't overclock the 4 core multiplier properly. The 4790k out of the box only runs 4.0ghz under 2 cores and a max of 4.2 ghz when all 4 cores are under stress. With a max of 4.4ghz for single core performance..
