I can't seem to set my SSD as my boot drive

Today I installed a 256 GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD on my PC. I set it up and am installing some games onto it right now. However, in my Asus UEFI/BIOS, when I set my Solid State at the top of my boot priority, I get a screen saying "Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device" and "Insert boot media in selected Boot device and press a key." The only way out of this was quickly going back into BIOS, and setting my old 1TB storage drive as my boot drive. Considering faster boot times and faster Windows was one of the reasons I got the SSD in the first place, I'd like it to work, please help.

Setting it as the boot drive won't make any difference if there is no OS on it to boot to. The BIOS will move to the next drive in your boot sequence.

You can try cloning the HDD to the SSD if there's room. But that will be fraught with issues that will need to be addressed too. Normally, you will clean install Windows to the new SSD. What were you planning on doing with this new SSD?

just use Samsung migration tool works well not as good as fresh but a lot easier

It seems like a pain sometimes to reinstall windows but if you make a bootable usb with Windows and you are installing on an ssd it can take as little as 20 minutes.

Reinstalling windows is a good thing to do just to get rid of clutter and unwanted programs.
Just make sure you copy all your personal files onto the hard drive and also copy large files and games so they don't have to be redownloaded.

Also when you are installing windows onto your ssd I recommend unplugging all the other drives on your computer. Sometimes windows while installing will create important files on the other drives and if those drives are ever removed from your system this can cause your ssd to not boot.
