PLEASE HELP ME. Ik this noise isnt from my video card cause i switched it out and it still happens.

There is this humming comming from my pc every once in a while. it isn't non stop but it normally happens when starting up a game or when ever really. I tried to open my pc up and listen to each component and fan but i can't locate where its coming from. it almost sounds like it is coming from the back of the pc

Specs:
PSU: evga g3 750 watt
video card: gtx 980 ti
MOBO: msi gaming 5
CPU: intel core i7-4760k
CASE: Fractal S
CPU COOLER: Evo 212

I dont have a hard drive just an ssd !

Solution
If you can't determine the cause of the humming by manually stopping the various fans, and if this is really bothering you, my advice would be to take everything, including the PSU out of the case and rebuild it on a non-conductive surface (like your motherboard box). You should then be able to zero in on the source of the humming.
My first guess would have been hard drive but since you only have an SSD that can't be it. In that case it's got to be a fan, since there are no other moving parts in a PC other than the fans, hard drive, and optical drive. (You've taken out any discs from the optical drive, right?)

Power supply fan?

You can stop each fan by putting a finger on the center shortly and stopping it to determine if one of those is giving the noise. With it happening more when gaming,as i understand, does it seem to be related to stress and with that heat.

try this one first... disconnect your GPU and use onboard graphics... check if the sound persist... that way you can rule out coil whine from the psu.

I had coilwhine from a psu and it would make noise when scrolling and while gaming..

Thanks but i just switched out my gpu and the noise is still happening

Yes it is set on eco mode

I have no disk drives in pc. My pc is pretty bare bones.

Doesn't mean it's not the psu, it's mechanical so a fault can still be in there.
Like i said can you put a finger on the center of the case fans or even the cpu cooler fan to see if one of those gives the sound.Putting a finger on the cpu cooler fan doesn't immidiately give issues, alot of those aftermarket coolers can even keep a cpu at decent temps at moderate loads without fan so putting a finger on for just a short while it will give no issues.

Wouldnt it hurt the fan itself
