Hi everyone!

It is just a small side problem but it is very annoying.

I had the habit using fax/answer machines before but when I did move I sold most of the my flat contents including the fax machine since I did realised that I could use the Microsoft inbuilt fax facility.

But, for some reason, I can't set the application in such a way that it identifys when the call is a voice call or a fax transmition (as it used to be with the fax machine). It always shows the call as an incoming fax and I need to answer the phone within the set number of rings otherwise the fax facility starts and interferes with the voice call. For the same token, if I answer the phone and it is a fax transmission, the trasnmission is lost. I can't leave the PC on when I'm going out, even for a few minutes, because the BT answer service doesn't come on since after the set nunber of rings the fax does come on. I am one of those people that leaves the PC on 24/7 specially because I am working from home and I have a set of schedule jobs a set times along the day.

At least the analog modem memorizes de income faxes if the PC is off...

Can anyone show me how to set the Fax Console like the fax machine?

Thanks in advance

Tino

Sorry this is not a function in Microsoft fax...
Not sure if there's third party software to do this.

XP Fax does not have distinctive ring capability. It is a very basic fax
program.
You will need to use a fee based
Internet Fax Service. Several are listed here: http://www.savetz.com/fax/
