I just got a dell optiplex 790, with a NVIDIA GTX 1050 TI, i5-2400 3.1ghz, 14 DDR3 gig ram (upgraded from 8). I have a 0HY9JP motherboard (dell ofcourse) and i would want to know if a i7-3770 would work in it. Thank you for all answers in advance!

From what I've just found it appears that since the Dell Optiplex uses the Intel Q65 chipset it does NOT support Ivy Bridge processors. https://ark.intel.com/products/52811/Intel-Q65-Express-Chipset

i found the same info.

if you wanted to go the i7 route, i think you would be looking for a 2600
looks like they are a little over 100$ on ebay
