so i just dropped my i3 6100 without the plastic cover from about 0.4 m height and i will only be getting a motherboard next week to test if cpu is working. Now please tell me are my chances of this cpu being still functional are slim or not?
it landed on a wooden floor 🙁
(i hate myself)

clutchc hit the nail on the head. Check the gold connectors for damage/missing plates, and check the tiny capacitors/resistors. Chances are, it's fine. I work in a refurbishing shop and people are always mis-handling the CPUs they take out of motherboards. So far, they have all worked. Even when I have had to bend a pin or two back on an AMD CPU.

i havent noticed any physical damage #hopingforthebest

This is one of the reasons why Intel puts pins on the MB nowadays(besides cutting cost. your chip is 100% perfectly fine..
Just be careful with static electricity.

Looks fine in that picture.
