Hello.
I have a problem, I am not sure how it happened but I get no audio in W8. I am currently using HP Pavilion model 500 with the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
At first I thought it was something funny going on with Adobe Flash Player because I noticed something was wrong when suddenly Youtube stopped working. It would display me an error message. It had been working alright, it is an error that happened earlier today.
I checked Adobe Flash Player and everything was in order, in fact I could still use the plug-in in other sites but it won't give me audio, even sites like vimeo would not give me audio but would display video correctly.
Of course I then checked my connection, checked everything was plugged in, and that the little speaker icon wasn't accidentally muted just in case.
I checked with iTunes, but not only I did not get audio, it refused to play music from my hard drive or from the cloud service. This is where I noticed something was terribly wrong.
My immediate thought was to scan my PC with Malwarebytes, after it realized a full system scan it encountered no problems, the log displayed no issues. I used Bitdefender to scan my PC following Malwarebytes, but so far there is no indication that this is caused by Malware, although the mouse movement was a bit sluggish here and there which got me worried but it could have been the antivirus background process.
What should I do now? I am currently opting for reinstalling the audio codec which is the only thing I have not tried yet but I am not sure how to do this.
