I got thermal plasta on the little metal things on my GPU

I was replacing the stock cooler on gtx 1080ti FE with an Arctic Accelero Etreme III and while I was thermal plastering on the heat sinks to the card some of the plasta dripped over on to the little metal things, is it conductive? Will it cause any problems with the card?

Since you're having trouble explaining/describing what the TIM got onto, an image would've helped. Host your image on Imgur and pass on a link here.

In general, not all thermal paste is conductive and if you're using the thermal paste bundled with your aftermarket cooler it shouldn't be any issue however to get a definite answer, it's best you confirm with us what you're talking about.

Plasta is not a word, in English anyway. You sure its not plaster? I have no idea what you are using, are you trying to stick those heatsinks on? If so its likely what I would call thermal glue, I have no idea if its conductive or not I would need the brand name and model of the glue to be sure.

Sorry, for some reason I though plaster was spelt like that. I'm usually good with Spelling. Yes it must be thermal glue(though I double checked and it does say plaster). It doesn't say a brand. I'll just try and get it off with some rubbing alcohol and a q tip.

Is it the stuff that came with the Xtreme III? I couldn't find much about it on their web site...
https://www.arctic.ac/us_en/accelero-xtreme-iii.html

Looking at the spare parts list for the cooler, it could be this TG-003, but they don't list much information about it either...
https://www.arctic.ac/us_en/tg-003.html

I know the company's other thermal compounds, MX-2 and MX-4 are non-conductive and non-capacitive, but I don't know about that paste. I would contact them on their product support page if you're using the thermal compound that came with the card.

I would call it thermal glue, but thermal plaster is probably the same thing different company's likely call it different things.. Its just a compound that sticks and transfers heat.

Yeah I would get it off just in case.

Well here's the thing. I ordered some 'Thermal Plaster' off eBay and it looks exactly the same, came in exactly the same package and even smells the same except that the one I ordered is more like a wet glue and the one that came with it is more like a chewing gum or blue tack texture.

Hard to say. Could be the PSU delivering "dirty" current to the motherboard, or a faulty motherboard. What is the exact model of the motherboard? If you can't find it on the motherboard itself, you can install CPU-Z and look in the "Mainboard" tab and it will identify the motherboard.

Also, what is your specific PSU? It should have a label on the side of the PSU.

Its pretty easy to tell, that whole area is illuminated by the light, compared to the rest of the pcb.
