I had downloaded pic from my phone to my laptop an all was well but when my laptop updated to Windows 10 all my pics or gone am very upset as had some very important pics please please can you help

Did you clean install windows 10 or did an upgraded from existing windows? Some more info please.

This is why you always back things up before making major changes to your PC. Have you done a search for the pic's not just checked your pictures folder. I ave seen win 10 installs shuffle you old user folders around. Did you see an older profile under users or even a newly named one/changes etc in your OS drive?

You should always backup your stuff to at least two external hard drives, even if you aren't upgrading or making any changes.

Not keeping backups is a fool's game. I know from bitter experience, now I'm older & wiser.

Exactly why I run an external server now with 2 copies of everything via 2 separate drive pools...plus a copy on my main rig's drive pool. So 3 hard drives or 2 computers have to die/do weird stuff like auto-upgrade (something win 10 is known for, microsoft was sued for and lost lol) for me to lose everything. 8 years after adopting this set-up i have never lost another file.
