I have 4gb (2x2gb) already on my ASUS P5N32-E SLI motherboard, 8gb halts the computer.

I have recently bought some more ram to boost my Asus P5N32-e SLI system up to 8gb.
It currently has 4gb (2x2gb) installed. I ran some compatability checks for some ram that could be installed to give 8gb, again (2x2gb). The ram I bought was Samsung M378T5663QZ3-CF7, which is 2gb 2Rx8 PC2-6440U-666-12-E3. After installing these two modules, the computer would not POST. I removed them and the computer was fine. My BIOS is on the latest version 1903.
How can I get this memory to work in my system?

Crucial's system scan recommended getting this ram kit for my system...

Funny that you're asking this very question. I had the same issue about two weeks ago. The RAM I purchased was the right RAM how ever it would not work. After some digging into the compatibility specs, it turned out that the new RAM was simply not supported with my current (slightly older) mother board. Sucky part was I couldn't find matching RAM without paying a boat load of $$ for it. Ended up going with a new cheap board and CPU to go with my new RAM. Wouldn't have paid to ship the RAM back at a loss.

The Samsungs may simply not want to play with the older DRAM or may have a compatibility issue w/ the mobo - mixing sets of DRAM can be and often is problematic - always best to get a package of the full amount you want/need and know all sticks have been tested to play nice

What 8gb ram package would you suggest for my Asus P5N32-E SLI mobo? Any particular brand/company?

Are you OCing at all? If so might look at the 800 Mushkins

My memory slots can only take up to a 2gb module in each, (that's what the online manual says), so it would seem I would 4x2gb modules to achieve 8gb.

My bad, was hthinking of wrong mobo, not a lot available in a full 4x2GB, so might look to two sets of the GSkill 2x2GB PQs in 6400, I used and them in numerous 680i builds and upgrades

What or is there any difference between the PQ GSkill and the NT GSkill?
