I have a broken side window on my case, how can I fix it?

(I'm sorry if this isn't the right place for this thread, I didn't see a "cases" option in the category selector)

So, I have an old Cooler Master Elite 310 that I wanna re-use, however the acrylic side window has been destroyed in storage.

I cannot replace this, because the cheapest panel i could find has 20 bucks shipping. I have 2 dollars, and a bunch of spray paint.

Please give me ideas on what I can put in the empty space where the window was. I tried cardboard but it looked too ugly. I have a few characteristics that I would like the material to have.

1. Sound blockage. When the side panel was on, the noise was obviously a lot quieter than when it was off. Mesh for example wouldn't block noise like acrylic. I want something to at least sort of block fan noise.

2. Looks. I want it to look at least sort of smooth, and I want to be able to make it as flush with the rest of the panel as I can.

3. Cheap, obviously. I have just about no money, so this material needs to be something I can find lying around. Just to get a general idea of how trashed my property is, I have some wood laying around in the shed, cardboard everywhere in the garage, a couple engines blocking the path in and out of said garage, metal scraps everywhere etc. Think, *almost* junkyard.

Thanks for reading 😛

Use a piece of scrap metal, Use a wire wheel to clean it up, sandable primer to fill any scratches/ smooth with 600 grit sandpaper on a flat block of wood and paint to match color of case. to attach use old mounting hardware for acrylic window and drill holes.

Seems good in theory, but I dont have anything to bend the metal with such precision so make that flush with the panel. If i just slapped it on using the mounting thats left over, there would be an indent... That's one of the reasons I didnt use the cardboard.

Hammer, wood, other items around will help get the shape. If this idea doesn't help go mow a few lawns to get the money for the side panel. 2 boards put together with a piece of metal between then can give nice 90° bends. if you want it bad enough it can be done, will take time but can be done. you can also mount the side piece with machine screws and nuts.

Considering that this image is your case :

Then you could buy a sheet of acrylic for pocket change.
Use a saw or something to cut it out to shape
Use a sharpie to mark out the holes to drill
Use a small drill bit so you dont crack the acrylic and gradually go larger until it is appropriate for the screws you have
