I have a dell all in one pc with the LGA 1155 motherboard with a g2020 chipset would I be able to eventually upgrade the chip

i heard its all soldered into the motherboard but the chipset itself is in a lga 1155 socket which makes the chipset compatible with other lga1155 chips and they make i5s and i7s in a 1155 format? there isnt any concrete info on this though

Yes, there are LGA 1155 i5s and i7s, but chances are that everything is soldered in.

The answers here were incorrect. The CPU is not soldered. It's socketed and can be upgraded relatively easily.

I upgraded two of them to 16gb of memory. And one of them to an i5-3550S CPU. Both took the memory upgrade just fine. The one with the i5 is likewise working nicely. Both saw improved performance.

I'm going to try upgrading the other one to an i7-3770S later this week.

These are the two RAM upgrades I used (one was a while ago, the other this past weekend):

Both passed extended burn-in testing with memtest86 (http://www.memtest86.com/)

While this was an old post, anyone else searching should know the chip is NOT soldered and you CAN upgrade it. This breathes new life into an otherwise nice machine.

So how did that i7 cpu upgrade work for you? Im looking for the fastest cpu for my Dell Inspiron one 2020. It currently has a Pentium G2030T.
