I am tight on the budget at the moment of £200 should i really go for 144Hz monitor becuase of my 1080? i was going to get a 75Hz monitor but when i searched up online it was recommended that i take a 144Hz monitor
Please also recommend me a good monitor THANKS!!! I want a monitor that is good for everything like games and watching movies. TY for everything

Solution
for media playback either will be fine, but for gaming it depends on the resolution you want to play at and the type of games you play

If you play esports games at 1080p or 1440p get the 144hz
If you play AAA games at 1440p get the 60 hz you won't get close enough to 144 fps to make it worthwhile
If you play AAA games at 1080p the 144hz might be worth it, but depending on the game, without gsync you might get screen tearing or the fps may fluctuate between 60 and 144 hz. Wildly, in some instances. As the games get newer they get more and more demanding even for a gtx 1080.

So, what resolution do you want to play at? What games? How important is a steady fps? Can you tolerate screen tearing?

If you want to play AAA at 1440p and you want a steady fps with no screen tearing, get a good 27" IPS monitor @ 60hz. That's what I ended up doing

for 1080p 144hz Acer GN246HL
for 1440p 60hz Acer K272HUL

Solution
Generally, it is better to go for the 144hz monitor as you won't be needing to upgrade it in a long time, however, from all the 144hz monitors I've seen, most of the better ones are always over $200 (but I'm in the US so prices may vary).

Really popular monitors I would recommend
ASUS VG248QE
AOC G2460P

I play League of legends a lot but im planning to play other pc games like gta5, battle field etc
