Hey there, I just bought myself a new h100i to cool my i5 2500k. Before that, I was using a hyper 212 and it couldnt keep up with my overclock at full load (4.6ghz, 1.34v). Now that I installed everything, I did some test and the h100i is worst that my hyper 212 at maximum fan speed, shutting down the test in like 10 sec because of too much temp (over 90c).

My question is: Is it doa? Or is my voltages too much? Ive seen people running 4.8ghz chips no problem with this cooler.

Thanks.

Jerome

no push and pull won't fix a problem that huge.

You must of put the thermal paste on wrong, only explanation. Because a h100 can keep a 1.5v fx 9590 5Ghz at 35C.

Get some good thermal paste and put a new layer on and see if that fixes it.

Well I watched alot of videos and they said that it was good enough. Will it make that big of a difference?

Also I noticed that running prime95, it can keep up just under 90c on balanced fan. If I use OCCT, even at maximum fan speed, the cooler cant keep up.

Im only running push currently. Would it be worth it for a push pull?

Well Ive done some research and ive found that I installed my backplate 90 degrees off (derp)

Reinstalled it correctly and now its under 70c in prime95. I find it actually amazing haha

Thanks for the help anyway man, but I think I wont be needing new thermal paste haha :p

Well I currently run the fans at quiet because they are fricking loud hahaha, ill get some sp120 or some noctua soon, then ill be able to run balanced. Ill pick up some decent thermal paste at the same time, I used my old hyper 212 one :p

Btw my ambients are around 28-29c, most review that I saw run theirs at 22c. Maybe its why its a bit higher.

Huh, I saw like 5 reviews saying that were using the h100 (actually it was the h100i) with fx 9590 and they said they got 35 to 40C.

My 8350 is at 58 - 60 degrees on load with a Big Air PH-TC14PE under 1.5 VOLTS at over 5.2 ghz. :D
