I'am a student and would like to upgrade the processor on my gateway notebook MX8715 if possible.
There is a T2250, 1.73 in it now, and it's on a " mPGA 479M socket, with a DAPA6AMB6D5 motherboard is there a upgrade for it.

Thank You

The processor is not soldered in, It has a lock down screw & brackett on the socket and I have taken it out before to get socket numbers..

Whoops, I got confused with BGA, my bad.

Otherwise, yes you can upgrade, but the upgrade might not be worth it. One way to figure out what works is to find out the highest level processor that was an option in your laptop. In that era of chip though, the upgrade probably isn't going to be worth it.

Well, Thank You for trying, but that's not the answer that I'm looking for.
I know the processor can be upgraded, but to what? I have seen the features of other MX8715 computers, and none of them are setup like this one. The Notebook computer that I have has " 4GB memory, 1TB HDD,32 Bit, PC card slot, IEEE port, Memory card reader, S-video, DVD-RW/DVD-RAM Multi-Burner Drive, Graphics, High Resolution. OK, now, Yes I know it's old and heavy to lug around, but if I get about 18 more months out of it now, without buyng a new laptop and spending a $1000.00 dollars for a new one.
I have called gateway and the only answer that I get is that " They Don't Know ". I have tried other web-sites and they show this notebook model with a 478 socket or a M socket, and with different features like slower processers, and 1GB memory, 120 GB HDD or 80 GB HDD.
With all that being said, Please Help!!! Show me a web-site that can give me the correct info, "if there is one", because I can't find one.

Thank You
