I have an extra Pcie x1(mini) slot. What should I do with it.

You don't necessarily need to do anything with it. Is there some function or capability that your system is unable to perform to your satisfaction?

It has enough USB ports for anything I will ever do. I might get a usb-c or thunderbolt add on.

Unless you need those types of ports, I wouldn't waste the time or money. There may also be some compatibility issues using those devices.
