i have chipped the m2 slot on my motherboard with a screwdriver and it has taken a chunk out of the top of the slot, not sure if it has damaged any pins but is there any way i can have an m.2 ssd in my system now if i want one in future if i have messed up the slot.

Not if you damaged the slot, you can't have an m.2 ssd in there. You'll have to use a standard SATA SSD if you did. I guess you can use an m.2 to SATA adapter if you already have an m.2 drive and don't want to buy a replacement.
