i have core 2 duo e7400 , and want to use nvidia 1060 3gb ,does this work??

Sorry to ask a question here I'm not trying to high jack this thread I just wanted to know I'm also planning to get a GTX 1060 3 gig I replaced my e7400 with a q8300 and I have another system I replaced the e4400 with a q6600 with the q6600 or the q8300 be enoguh for the GTX 1060 3 gig?

I wouldn't recommend getting any 10 series graphics card unless you're sporting an i3, i5, i7, or a high tier FX chip (8350+) otherwise you will never, no matter what, see your card's true potential.
 


Second generation i3 is possibly the lowest one could go with a GTX 1060. Getting a GTX 1060 for any lesser performing CPU is going to be a waste.

And i'll second the above.
for gaming a high clocked (~3.5GHz) i3 would be the bare minimum with mid-high end cards.
Even i5 is starting to show it's weakness in some scenarios. So trying to game on C2Q is not recommended.
~5-6 months I had to use my reserve rig with C2Q 9300 clocked at 3.1GHz and even with GTX 570 there was a significant drop in performance compared to the main rig with i7.
