I want to start building my computer now because I don't have very much time where I'm at, so can I put everything together without the CPU? Or at least start putting together something or do something or something the parts are just sitting here teasing and taunting me without a CPU! Any response is very much appreciated, thank you Tom's Hardware community!

Hi :)

Yes, everything apart from cpu and cpu fan.... do NOT turn it on until they are in....

All the best Brett :)

Haha, thank you for the quick response, can I have some instruction on what is okay to build? Can I just put everything else together without plugging it in/ plugging in a CPU chip?

Hi

One minor point if heat sink + fan is non standard it may require the motherboard is out of case to fit heatsink mounting.
depending on if you can get access to underside of motherboard in area underneath cpu socket.
This depend on case design

Retail Intel CPU's include heatsink fan which can be tricky for first timers to ensure they are fitted correctly unless you can see underneath that all 4 push pins are down & locked.

You can easily get motherboard out again if necessary.
Do not switch on or connect cables for PSU to motherboard until CPU + heatsink in place

Take things slowly and get things correct first time.

Ensure the mounting pillars are in correct places AND not in places which do not match holes in motherboard
I often use a sheet of paper, mark holes in motherboard onto paper with pin or nail then match location of holes/pillars on motherboard tray
