Question I have to do a Network Reset everytime I want to log in to Path of Exile ?

The problem im having is that when I launch games like cod, marvel rivals, overwatch and path of exile (discord too) I cant get past the login phase, either I get a connection error or it gets stuck on "logging in". However my internet connection is just fine, other online games work (counter strike, battlefield battlefront) , my browser does, discord works on the browser aswell as the same games playing on the same acounts work on my laptop when connected to the same router.

So far ive tried many things and the closest ive gotten to fixing it is by doing a network reset. This allows me to succesfully login to these games and play them. This is only a temporary solution though because if I close the game and start it again I would get stuck in the log in screen again or run into the "connection error" message again. This fix unfortunatly doesn't work for Path of Exile 2 since I receive a "unexpected connection occured" everytime I enter a new instance after 10 minutes of launching the game. So basically the network reset gives me about 10 minutes to login to a game. These are problems I ran into recently, (its not a new pc its been working great for a long time and games run perfectly performance wise and internet and ping is good).

Here are some things ive tried

*Firewall and anti-virus program (Kaspersky)

added the games to "allow list" on my anti-virus software, also added it to windows firewall (check both boxes for private and public)

Turned of anti-virus software (kaspersky), also turned off windows firewall.

Ran scan through both Kaspersky and windows of potential virus of threats incase that could have been a problem but found nothing.

*Command promts

Ran the scan now and ip config promts and the other popular ones thare are recommended when you search for tips for different login errors.

*Turned off other apps that might interfer.

*Windows updates

Made sure windows is up to date, aswell as I upgraded from windows 10 to 11 in a desperate attemp to fix it and windows 11 is not also up to date.

AMD Graphics driver

I installed the newest driver but I cannot for some reason search for new updates since a few days ago since AMD software: adrenaline edition says unexpected error when clickin on "check for new updates".

DNS server and VPN

Tried different DNS servers, including letting automatic dns server, 8888 4488, 1111 1111

Tried Nordvpn switching both on and off. Btw i use a ethernet cable.

Uninstalling and verifying games

I've reinstalled all games as well as discord, verified game files with the same result. Although reinstalling path of exile 2 did work for a day before running into the same problem again. Discord was the first program to go and that was maybe a month or two ago. Then overwatch couldnt login in or update, when marvel rivals released it worked but poe2 did not. I have restarted my pc between doing each one of these fixes and occasionaly restarted the router, pulled out ethernet cable and with anti virus on or off.

I am considering handing it over to some tech store to see if they can make sense of the problem because im slowly losing patience and ideas off what else to try. Please if you have time leave suggestions or tips if you could think of something that could help or somewhere where I might find help. I would very much appreciate any help or tips you could think of, many thanks!

1. Does you system have wireless capability?
If so, connect via wi-fi and see if it makes any difference.

2. Do you have a static ip address ?
3. Try turning off ipv6 in adapter settings

This:

How constant or consistent is that 10 minute time measurement?

Look in Task Scheduler for anything involving a 10 minute time trigger.

Check through all of the tabs and look/read carefully.

Could be that some earlier installation slipped in a rule that is now causing problems.

I would completely disable the virus and firewall function temporarily. Since you are only playing the game I doubt you need to worry about virus....nothing can attack your machine from the internet directly because of the NAT in the router.

Hard to say but it could be one of GGG data centers. I would leave the resource manager open on the network tab. You can see the IP it connects to. Sometime there are ranges of IP/servers that have issues and other do not. Every time you change zones in POE it opens a new session many times on a completely different server.

If there is nothing obvious you could run a wireshark capture. You will get massive files without filters but unless you have a pretty good understanding of how TCPIP traffic works it is hard to get a good filter. Most times you wait for the issue quickly stop the capture and look at the end of it. What would be interesting to see is if you see the session actually establish with the new server or if it is being rejected or ignored. Key here are SYN packets going from your machine to server IP. These are the very first packets sent in a new session.

What makes this more strange is resetting the interface fixes it. It is not like you are opening thousands of tiny sessions and exceeding some table in windows. I tend to put my tin foil hat on and blame VPN when you get very strange issues. VPN software does not always uninstall cleanly and many times the on/off function there is still VPN hooks into the OS. After having to reinstall windows I never load VPN on my machine I run them on a external router. In my case I was testing multiple vpn and might have been my fault but some VPN are a pain in the butt to uninstall.

My pc doesn't have wireless capability it only works with ethernet cable. I have a dynamic ip adress and ipv6 is off in adapter settings.

Maybe you should try a static ip and dns and see if anything changes.
Also check the adapter settings/properties. What make & model of ethernet adapter do you have?

I managed to fix the problem . After looking through task manager I found my anti virus (Kaspersky) related task start up in the background even after I paused and exited the antivirus. When I ended the task with taskmanager it would pop up again several times and when it finally stopped everything started working as it should. Scrubbed my pc off all remenents of the anti virus program and it works perfectly now. Feels very obvious now afterwards but I was under the impression the anti virus was off after I paused it and exited the program with task manager. The network reset must have kept the anti virus background applications from immediatly starting and so I was allowed to log in. I had also made sure to allow the games through the anti virus firewall but that evidently didnt do the trick. Thanks for the tips!

In general the microsoft firewall and virus stuff is more than good enough. Almost all attacks now days are not really virus. They attempt to trick someone into running a program. Although some software can flag this pretty much it is on the person at the keyboard to not do stupid stuff. Not sure what you do when the hackers are paying huge money to google to promoted fake sites to the top of search results.
