I just OCd my I7 2700K it's staying on 2.7GHz idle?

Asus Maximus V Gene
I7 2700K Stock 3.5GHz
16GB 1333MHz DDR3 RAM
2GB AMD Radeon HD XFX 7870
500W Corsair PSU

This was my first time OCing for real. I went into the BIOS and OCd to 4.7GHz, it seems that it is staying clocked at 4.7GHz even when idle and I have no programs open.
- Will this ruin my CPU?
- How do I stop it staying 4.7Ghz all the time?

Thats normal, it disables the built in power step when you over clock. This will not harm the chip at all, just make sure it's a stable over clock and you should be ok.

Many overclocking Guides suggest that you disable Speedstep. You need to go back into BIOS and re-enable Speedstep. Your processor will then Idle at 1.6Ghz and will also Idle at lower temperatures.
