So, out of curiosity, is this uncommon? I thought it was difficult to get 144Hz @1080p out of HDMI, but my AOC G2770PQU is now running stable at 154Hz. Is this some amazing feat? Did I just do an unremarkable thing that I've never heard of, and so I think it's remarkable?

Ah, I see. I wonder if I tried a Higher quality HDMI cable if I could get that out of it. It crashed at 155Hz, but I tried.

Gaming specific monitors tend to give you more leeway when overclocking refresh rates. It's the generic brands (or super hi-res monitors ~4k) that are much more difficult to keep stable.

If you want to try to hit 160Hz, you should probably be using a DisplayPort cable. HDMI has a lower ceiling.
