Really want urgent help. It's an Acer Aspire 4650G. I installed a DVD caddy to install another HDD but trying to plug trackpad ribbon cable back I realized trackpad no longer works. Locked the latch, tried pushing ribbon as hard as possible without possibly breaking it... nothing. Took a look at the ribbon to see this:

One of the contact/solder pad is worn off.
I've followed a advice I saw posted on this forum where you put scotch tape on the non contact pad side to make it install with more force, still nothing.
What can I do in this situation? Please give me any help you can.
Many thanks in advance

Thanks for the responses. I ended up finding a makeshift fix after seeing the ribbon cable was slightly more longer and it was just folded behind the upper body. Extending and trying to shove it in the latch made enough contact to work.
Tho dudio's idea of using tinfoil is really interesting. If current fix fails I'm surely doing that, or somehow source another ribbon cable.
