i viewed the file and what it says is "support for ddr4 2666/2400/2133 mhz memory modules. and "support for Extreme memory profile (XMP)) does this mean if i installed a 8/9th gen i5 it could run at 3200mhz?https://download.gigabyte.com/FileL...e_1101.pdf?v=fbba1890445345bffec68c36da1d0295
Yes and the answer took almost 3 seconds to google.
xmp refers to the settings in the ram stick that the motherboard can draw out of the ram stick.i viewed the file and what it says is "support for ddr4 2666/2400/2133 mhz memory modules. and "support for Extreme memory profile (XMP)) does this mean if i installed a 8/9th gen i5 it could run at 3200mhz?
So specifically relating to the motherboard and cpu (i5 8600k, B365M DS3H WIFI) will it be able to support 3200mhz ram ? I thought xmp allowed your ram to OCxmp refers to the settings in the ram stick that the motherboard can draw out of the ram stick.
If your motherboard does not support 3200 speed(and it does not) then no, you will not be able to run at that speed.
I might add that excepting use for integrated graphics intel performance does not much depend on fast ram.
So the answer is NO I can't use XMP. Even if I bought 3200mhz ram and used it it would capped at 2666mhz even WITH xmp enabledTechnically, any ram faster than the default 2666 is overclocked.
That is done by setting a higher voltage in the ram specs in the bios.
The ram is capable of 3200 speed, but your motherboard is not.
