Hello, I need to get a good $150 mobo for my new gaming rig. I'll be using intel i5 3570k overclocked @ 4.2 Ghz, and my GPU is gonna be either Nvidia GTX 760 or 770.
I have the Asus P8Z77-V and the Gigabyte Z77x-ud3h in mind.

I've heard some really bad things about the AsRock Extreme4 when it comes to overclocking... and I don't know about MSI. I would appreciate some opinions/suggestions.

Well Haswell 4670k was my original choice, but everyone told me that it gets too hot when over clocked, where as the 3570k would reach 4.2 ghz easily.

Well Haswell 4670k was my original choice, but everyone told me that it gets too hot when over clocked, where as the 3570k would reach 4.2 ghz easily.

get a better cooler . thats all what you need .. Z87 motherboards are way better than z77 ..

Then how much is the total price of the combo? Also, what kind of cooler would I need to overlock a 4670k to, say 3.8-4.2Ghz? My budget is $50 max for the cooler. Since this is my first build, I'll just stick with air cooler.

I have built 2 PC's using the Gigabyte Z77-UD5H mobo. No problems what so ever. I would recommend this board to anyone. Very easy to OC, also. Just for reference, i have the I-5 3570K CPU on these.

you did not read the Sniper M5 review ?

Despite the compact size of the M5, the performance implications due to it being part of the G1.Sniper range certainly come to the fore in the overclock. The GD65 hit 5GHz but for heat and stability reasons we lowered to 4.8, whereas on the M5 we still managed that 5GHz screeny but our bench stable clock was 4.9GHz, and that is our overclock speed for today.
