I need a new gaming monitor, very new to monitors so not a clue

ok so i just spent £1,600 on a gaming PC (gtx TITAN GPU)
and i would like to have a monitor to play games on...

im looking for good value (under £300)
decent size if im sitting close (sat at a desk)

1. im from the UK
2. will be used for high end gaming
3. looking for FULL HD but only on a screen size of 27" ?
4. refresh rate needs to be high as 120FPS is useless on a 60Hz monitor
5. budget is under £300, im willing to blow it through the roof as i have up to about £500 but i really dont want to do that.
6. i have no preferred brands
7. i have no brands that i avoid
8. there is a possibility i buy a second one in the future for dual screen but NOT YET... dont let this sway your descision as its not important
9. ive just ordered the gtx titan so not sure how many screens it supports
10. i think hdmi would be best port to connect it by... right?
11. the screen will be my PRIMARY DISPLAY

last but not least, i need NO lag, i play First Person Shooter games and need instant responses

aww a TITAN where a 780Ti, beast of a card that beat TITAN for cheaper price, already out for awhile. Anyway, if u are looking for a gaming monitor, find those with 1ms response and higher refresh rate if u can, 1080p is mainstream right now, so u can find it easily monitors with 1080p. now u just have to find one with 1ms response time and refresh rate higher than 60Hz (120Hz, 144Hz).

Both are pretty damn good monitors. Response time isn't 1ms (simply not possible, I won't go into why) but they're the fastest you'll get. Combined with Lightboost you'll get even better response times. Don't use HDMI as you'll be back here asking why it's not running at 120/144hz.

Or, get a refund on the Titan (EU online purchasing laws, ho!) and get a 780Ti, save yourself £300.

hey guys, i know you all dont like the titan but i actually use it for rendering mainly, with serious gaming on the side...
try and find a better card to render things on "blender" ;P

Fair enough!

Use DVI-D or DisplayPort, HDMI simply doesn't have the bandwidth to cope with 120/144hz yet. You'll get the right cables with either monitor, and the graphics card will have the right connector anyway.

One thing I'd have to note with high refresh rate monitors, is that the colours are generally pretty crap. In a gradient you do notice the crushing of colours, and of course the contrast is, well, not great.

im not really into the BEST settings...
just need quick response times, im upgrading from an old "flat screen" (its over 30cm deep still) with a resolution of 720p.

im pretty sure i wont give a crap about small things like colour not being quite as good

Haha yeah fair enough dude!

I've got the Asus one myself, it's pretty damn good, colours are apparently more saturated than the BenQ one, but also change much more depending on what the refresh rate is.
