I need a new gpu

So I just got all my new parts in and I need a gpu to go with it. I was looking at a gtx 650 and r7 260x. There is also the r5 240 and gt 610 620 and 630 cards. The r7 260x is 150 and the gtx 650 160 dollars. 150 is my peak budget. Any ideas?

r7 260x all the way, and if you can afford it r9 270. What are the specs on your build by the way.

Yeah the r9 270 is way out of my budget right nowmy specs are

Fx 6300 3.5ghz 6core 4.1 turbo
8gb gskill ripjaws x 1600mhz
Windows 7 64bit
M5a97 asus mobo
600w psu

Im going to be playing games like fallout 3 and kingdoms of amular. Maybe dragon age 2 and crysis 2 as well.

r7 265 if you can get it will beat 260x.

How does the r7 260x compare to the hd 6770 or hd 5850?

The 5850 is about as fast as a HD6870, which is much faster than a HD6770.

I had a 5850 long ago and it was a great card. As long as the r7 260x is faster then the 6770 and 5850 ima just buy the 260x. That and im only playing the games I have like

Fallout 3. Dragon age 2. Bioshock 2. Kingdoms of amalur reckoning. Battle field bc 2. Mass effect 3. And my all time fav diablo 2 lol. So I dont think ill have an issue playing my games maxed out.

The 5850 should be just a tad slower than the 260x.

Ill probaby be using the old 1024x768 res unless upgrade my moniter. But id rather get more ram or somthing. Later on if I decide to get another 260x and crossfire them. Would I get decent performance? Or would it be a waste. I trying to be futuristic before I get the card.

But then again on 1024x768 res I dont think 2 gpus are necessary? or if I for some reason got bf4 would it run it on 1024x768 res good?

1024x768 should be fine on that monitor. You wouldnt need a second one until you get a new monitor.
