Question I need a starting level prebuilt for gaming.

Basically my Lenovo Y520 laptop is dead I’ve resuscitated it many times and I don’t want to keep hardware resetting it. My dad is willing to help me buy a prebuilt but my budget is like 1100 max preferably I’d need something 900-1k. I don’t really care about the spec I just need like a combined 1tb of storage (idc if it’s ssd or hdd) and just a good powersupply like a gold edition. I don’t really know that much about pcs so any suggestions would help even if it isn’t a link to a prebuilt but rather a good strategy for buying prebuilts.

Yeah I live not near but in the same area as one so I can just get parts and pay someone but yet again I’m not sure what parts and I also know getting certain parts might take a long time like especially a gpu for example

I know some, perhaps all, Microcenters will assemble the parts you buy there.

Find out about that.

They are a good inexpensive choice for parts too.

The problem with pre-builts is their power supply, cooling, and possibly proprietary parts, such as the case and motherboard. You want to avoid that. You can avoid that by choosing your own parts.

You might be able to do a pretty good job for 1100, but I don't know what Microcenter charges for assembly.

I do need to buy a monitor and windows but that’s outside the budget I’ll take a look at parts available in micro center once I get an idea of what I’m looking for thank you I appreciate it.

MicroCenter has a fee for assembly based upon how complex the build is going to be.

If I were you, watch a couple of a myriad videos showing building a PC. If you EVER played with Lego, you are ready.

I would think:

12600 + a 600 series DDR4 motherboard. If you choose to go Micro ATX is about the least expensive option(s). I suggest picking a motherboard with (4) RAM slots.

Consider at least 16GB of RAM for now. I suggest GSkill Ripjaws.

Pick up the Crucial 1TB NVME SSD (M.2)

Corsair RM750x (or so)

RX6600/6700 XT give or take where other items are coming in price wise.

If you need a monitor, at this price level you best bet is going to be stick to something such as 27" 1080/75+FPS models

Cases are too personal IMO as you have to look at it, but just be sure there is room for the components you pick.

I would build my own, however my dad doesn’t think I have the proper knowledge of computers yet to build my own and he only trusts me to get a prebuilt I still appreciate this, maybe if I decide to get another desktop or something for my mom’s house then I can use this info.

I would mention to steer clear of the Dell and HP variants. Even with the Lenovo units I would ask to see inside of the one you are interested in to be sure it is made of standard components with standard connectors. The PowerSpec ones are compelling, but seem to be a bit high on price for this budget.

They’ve got a Lenovo for a little less but I’m not sure if they used a standard power supply. If you go through microcenter for parts I think they’ll assemble for $150 or so.
