i know that these specs suck but so far ive been doing, ..okay with playing free 2 play steam games. here are my specs:
Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz
2 GB DDR2 RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6870 1 GB GDDR5 VRAM
650 W Power Supply
well anyways my new motherboard has an lga 1155 socket for the cpu and I want to get an Intel Core i5 becuase i3 is getting old now and i5 supports quad cores. I just dont have very much money to get it. My question is that do you think I should get the i3 or the i5 and is there an i3 quad core that I don't know about??

i3 and i5 are the same age, but no, there is not a quad-core i3.

What PSU? Do you have new RAM?

I'd be looking at an i5- 3350p.

What's causing you to want to upgrade other than just updating? (Not that updating is bad, just curious so I can help find a good upgrade). Also, what would be your budget?

i want to upgrade because my processor has a single core cpu & it's not good for gaming. my budget is around 75 to 100 and it doesnt have to come with a heatsink becuase im not going to use the standard on that comes with it.

i was looking more at i3, i5 or i7's and most importantly quad-core

No way you can get an i5 on $100.

I'd be looking at an Athlon 760K or FX-6300.

Have you bought the new mobo yet? What is it?

I agree, an i5 is above that budget. If you really want a quad-core cpu, you'll need to increase your budget a bit.
