I have atopic dermatitis / eczema on my hands .. It seems like it spread to my ears . As both leather ear pads and memory foam ear pads cause a an itching rash / allergic reaction on my ears after a long use of the headphones (more than 1 hour ) . I'm having difficulty finding fabric ear pads for the hyper X cloud 2 so I could test a 3rd material . Can you guys who experience the same problem advise me what to do ? Do I need to stop wearing headphones all together ?

Thanks !

Have you a mum, wife, significant other who could modify your headphone cups, replacing/covering the material that makes contact with your skin with something safe/hypoallergenic?

I empathise with you, psoriasis prevents me from using stuff that even in a minor way irritates my skin, flare ups are a pain. I found that good airflow and materials that wick away perspiration helped.

I found this link

The brand names within suggest the phones listed won’t be cheap but it may act as a starting point for research.

Good luck.

Should I try fabric pads first and see if the material is irrelevant ?

I found that a wicking material helped me. I don’t have an allergy that triggers so I can’t say.

You can try and see. I only mentioned hypoallergenic as you mentioned allergic reaction in your original post.

I found the issue I thing - the internal part of the ear pad that touches the ear seems to be made from leather
. The same leather on the default ear pads that caused the rash
