Guys, I am seriously need help. Why is my UEFI GPT Bootable Windows 10 installation media USB listed on where do you want to install Windows? I try to install Windows 10 in UEFI. I download the Media Creation Tool and then choose ISO and then burn ISO to Rufus software to USB drive in UEFI. The guide can be found here: : https://m.windowscentral.com/how-create-windows-10-usb-bootable-media-uefi-support
USB Flash Drive was set to FAT32. Both Drive 0 and Drive 1 were GPT.
Drive 0 Unallocated Space : SSD
Drive 1 Partition 1: My UEFI USB Bootable Windows 10. Type is Primary as well.
Only 1 drive connected to the computer and that is Drive 0 aka SSD. The error says " Windows cannot be installed to this disk. Setup does not support configuration of or installation to disks connected through a USB or IEE 1934 port. Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. Windows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS.

Solution
hmm, i wonder if you can change its properties in Device manager
right click start
choose device manager
find it under disk drives
right click, and choose properties
click policies tab and make sure Quick removal is selected (it should be default for a USB)
turn off write caching if its on as that only applies to internal drives
click OK and see if that changes it

might be how it was originally formatted.

All the fixes I can find just fix how win 10 sees the drive but not sure if they alter the drive itself. Since 3 PC see it as the same thing, it has to be how the USB was originally formatted but it won't let you delete it, right?

hmmm... so we know USB will show in the installer window, not sure why and only fix is to redo...

Motherboard: Maximus VII Hero

I want to install Windows 10 onto my SSD.

Only SSD connected to the SATA port on the motherboard, other drives disconnected from the SATA power and SATA cable.

I turn off Fast Boot, CSM, and Secure Boot in the BIOS. Boot Priority set to UEFI: my USB, and F8 click on UEFI: USB.

I use Rufus and click GPT UEFI and FAT32 and format ISO to my USB drive.

Drive 0: My SSD

Drive 1: My USB. It shouldn't be in the " Where do you want to install Windows".

When I click show details: " Windows cannot be installed to this disk. Setup does not support configuration of or installation to disks connected through a USB or IEE 1934 port. Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. Windows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS."

My USB aka Drive 1 Partition 1 shouldn't be in the " Where do you want to install Windows ". It should be my SSD by itself,

The SSD doesn't sound like it's formatted correctly. I recently made a mistake(understatement) trying to start from scratch and ended up in your situation. At least I was receiving the same error message which leads me to believe the solution could also be the same. I found an old Ubuntu disk and installed it. I then used it to format my disk to NTFS. After that it was business as usual. Insert USB and my SSD. Boot to USB(boot order set in BIOS/ UEFI), choose SSD and install. I then installed my other HDDs and formatted them correctly.

I was receiving the message on all my disks. I manually erased the reserved partition:pfff:. I REALLY know I shouldn't have done that. One of those days.

NUTSHELL.

Install another OS or use a Linux live disk. Format your SSD to NTFS. Install.

I can't delete, format, extend, and new on Drive 1 Partition 1 on my desktop. I tried this on my laptop and I get the same result as my desktop which is display it in " Where do I want to install Windows". Here is the pictures on my laptop. If I delete Drive 1, how the hell I can install Windows?!

Here is the CMD diskpart command codes.
Disk 2 is my USB

So - apart from it showing USB in locations to install - is the problem? Does it let you choose Disk 1 to install to? What happens if you highlight the unallocated space and click next? Win 10 should create 4 partitions

just ignore disk 2

Have you tried running diskpart/clean on drive 1? that should wipe all the partitions including Drive 1 Partition 1.

I cannot diskclean Drive 1 Partition 1 in Windows setup on my desktop. I can do it on my laptop, but that will erase everything on my USB which reverted to a blank USB with no OS media in it

I can select Drive 0 aka my SSD. But the problem is my USB shouldn't be show up in Windows Setup at all. It shoukd be my SSD only. I think there is a problem with the way I set it up.

Are you running the diskpart while booted off the USB? I can understand why it wouldn't let you do it if you running diskpart from inside windows, its not suicidal enough to let you delete itself that way.

If you run diskpart/clean on the drive 0 it doesn't touch disk 1 at all. It only clears drive 0 which is the ssd (i would remove the 1tb hdd before fresh installing as win 10 likes to put the boot partition on any free space which might include the 1tb drive)

boot from installer
on screen after languages, choose repair this pc, not install.
choose troubleshoot
choose advanced
choose command prompt
type diskpart and press enter
type list disk and press enter
this shows all drives available, DVD/USB and hdd, make note of hdd number
type Select disk X - where X is the number of the hdd you want to wipe, change X to that number and press enter
once the drive you want to install on is chosen, type Clean

That USB error happens if you try to install win 10 onto the USB stick, or by trying to install onto an external hdd. Also can be caused by a bad USB drive so try another one.

nvm about 1tb drive removal, I just realised its the drive in the laptop.

Okay I found the cause to my problem. For some reasons, my USB listed as an INTERNAL HDD and not REMOVABLE. I ran a diskpart > list volume and the Diskpart result showed my USB under Type column listed as Partition and not REMOVABLE. So how I can fix this?
Here is the picture of diskpart ran on my ACER laptop. Volume 4 "E" is my USB.

I have a secondary Sandisk USB, and it listed as a REMOVABLE and not PARTITION type for internal HDD. Windows Setup doesn't detect my secondary Sandisk USB as an INTERNAL HDD like the one in the picture. The problem right now is my primary Sandisk USB detect as an INTERNAL hard disk drive and not REMOVABLE USB where it is supposed to be.

hmm, i wonder if you can change its properties in Device manager
right click start
choose device manager
find it under disk drives
right click, and choose properties
click policies tab and make sure Quick removal is selected (it should be default for a USB)

hmmm... so we know USB will show in the installer window, not sure why and only fix is to redo installer I think, so have you managed to install win 10 on the PC yet? Just choose Disk 0 and click next?
