To be honest I'd recommend getting the 1080 Ti 11GB MSI Gaming X, more vram, much higher memory bandwidth. It would be a shame to grab an 8700K without going Ti on your GPU as well!

yes it would work, if you are going to get a nice monitor you might want to look at one with GSYNC instead of FREESYNC. that is nvidia's screen tearing solution and it supposedly works well. FREESYNC is AMD's technology doing the same thing for the most part. you won't be able to utilize that feature. GSYNC monitors can be expensive but from what i understand worth it. I would also prefer a 1440p@144hz, monitor it just looks great
iambib :
That is a sweet setup!
As for your monitor, whilst it's a nice monitor and has a crazy 240Hz refresh rate (I think the internal battery for the monitor is a bit of a gimmick for a desktop PC), I would suggest going for a QHD monitor and dropping to 144Hz, because you probably won't even be able to notice the difference between 144 and 240 but the resolution will be a huge improvement. This will also keep your rig from stressing to produce 200+ fps and instead you can cap it to 140 and you'll have a more than amazing gaming experience with a 1440p than a 1080p.
Here's a few great monitors that are 1440p 140Hz 1ms response - I have an Asus screen myself and it's very nice, great viewing angles and colour production, and a few friends use AOC and they're also amazing too!

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01G4AUGR6/ref=psdc_428652031_t2_B00VH3HO6C
Hope you find the perfect monitor for your rig!
EDIT: I agree with Hellfire about upgrading your parts, and especially if you choose another monitor for around £400-500 you'd have money to save. But I've heard there's been a few problems with the GDDR6 on the RTX cards so I would look into that first before buying!

This would be a much more solid build, for less. Whatever you do, avoid the Thermaltake and Cooler Master power supplies. They have very few decent models and none of them are less expensive that what you'd pay for a very good model from Seasonic, EVGA or Corsair, so long as you know WHICH models to look at.
Also, that 212 EVO is not nearly good enough for that 8700k, whether you're overclocking or not.
And this Trident Z G.Skill memory is faster, and MUCH better quality, than those Corsair Vengeance sticks, for about ten bucks less.

That looks much better than before, but unless there is something specific about that motherboard's features that you "have" to have, then the Z370-A is a very solid motherboard with practically all the same quality and features as the Hero board minus the ROG features. Personally, if I couldn't get the Hero board, the Z370-A is the board I would likely go with. The ASUS A series boards have always been terrific.
Either way, looks better.
Either way, looks better.
