I need internet bandwidth control

plain and simple i have a brother that recently has been sucking up all the bandwidth with multiple youtube tabs, social media downloads/uploads and more crap that just rapes my ping when gaming - recently it has been fine and i can usually share the internet with him, however i want to get to a stage where I am able to play fine regardless of who is on and they still have acess to working internet. i also have a netgear nighthawk modem and am connected to my pc via cable.

Each router is a bit different, but your brother's device should be there and you can set some limitations on it.

In router, you need QOS (Quality Of Service), there you can decide what IP/port/service type gets what bandwidth. Also worth switching on WMM in each pc's network card properties if supported, for better performance and management.

thank you for your replies - this info seems very helpful but i would also need to know the ratio in which the bandwith is allocated? or is there some way via QoS to determine this?
