I need RAM help

HELP PLEASE I DONT KNOW ALOT ABPUT RAM I NEED HELP WHY ARE THEIR DIFFERENT COLORS WHAT CAN IGET RAM FOR MY NEW MOBO PLEASE HELP.

right now i have 6 but for playing games i think i might want 8g. but i just dont know how like what kinds of ram and whta do the colors on my mobo mean

sorry excuse my noobness but what is dram. the mobo is Asus Z87-A ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

No. I cant afford that i am on a tight budget with this build. I already have 2 3g sticks so i have 6g in total but when i build it does it matter what color ram slot i put it in. Also i only want 2 or 4 more gigs of ram because im on a tight budget because i al ready have 6g

maybe 3 2GB sticks? and want to add 2GB more? if so look to get the same model you have or a stick with the same specs, there's no guarantee when mixing sticks that they will play together

I only have 2 sticks and 6g so i think i have 2 3g. But i didn't know that mixing sticks wasn't good so i think that i will just get the two sticks you said. But those rae pretty pricy for my budget. Any other recomendations that are still good?

Is this a desktop or laptop? I don't know of any 3GB sticks, many laptops have a stick soldered in and then 2 or more slots for additional DRAM, guessing laptop

Desktop im not sure if its a 3g ram, but last time i checked, there were 2 sticks and i have 6g of ram. but my new motherboard has color codes, os can i install the 2 i have now in one color, and 2 new ones in the other color?
