[SOLVED] I need root to root my lg

Hello, I am trying to root my LG vs840pp. I realize this is dangerous, but installing roms is the only way of updating a $13 2012 phone. I have looked over the run.sh of this one rooting software, and it seems solid. The only problem is that my phone will not give permission to write to the /system and /local directory. I have tried chmod 777, but I get the error that the /system directory is a read only directory.

I have not had any success with that. It does not recognize flash recovery, and the dd command says there is not enough space.

You could try adding a micro SD Card but that message is stubborn and the add-on card isn't recognised.

What? My micro sd is fine. That is where I flash cwm.img from.

What were you trying to copy and from where to where, when you saw the "not enough space" message

I was trying to copy cwm.img(the recovery image) on the root of the sdcard. dd if=/sdcard/cwm.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p16 bs=4096
That is where the tutorial in your link told me to paste it. bs is the block size that determines transfer speed. I changed it from 4096 to 4, and it still gave me the error no space left in terminal emulator.

Rollback to gb. Then root, install Cwm, and flash cm10. It is amazing. I couldn't imagine going back to stock ics
