i need SERIOUS gpu help.

Alright heres the deal. I got a decent pc on craigslist and at the time I was only wanting to play games that run on toasters like cs go. but over time I've joined the PC MASTER RACE! and want some serious hardware. unfortunately, I have a gt 610.. bought it as my first upgrade and at the time I thought it was good. should've looked into it more. ive done more things to it and I really want to make my 2010 pc a little monster. so, I need to know what the best graphics card possible for me to run are. here are my FULL system specs. before you read further, I seriously need a computer genius. I need to know EXACTLY what my pc can handle no "maybes" only cans and can nots. also a little extra, I found a msi gtx 960 for 130 on craigslist, not sure if I should pick it up or not. always been scared of buying used parts. theres also a gigabyte windforce version for 150.

CPU Intel i5 650 (yes 650 not 6500k)

now please, punch me and brutally destroy me with ALL the knowledge you have. I want to know EVERY little detail possible. the gpu I wanted was a gtx 1050 ti. but a friend said my pc wouldn't handle it, not that I don't believe him but I want to check with everyone. BUT it doesn't have a 6 pin. and from what ive heard/read that usually means it doesn't get to its full potential. I need to know everything you can possibly tell me I'm trying to get as good of a card as possible. before you ask, I don't plan on upgrading my mobo. ive heard theres no real benefit unless you want to use 2 gpu or something like that. which I'm never gonna do lol also theres a msi and gigabyte gtx 960 on craigslist near me. msi is 130 and gigabyte is 150. but ive always been scare of buying used pc parts.

ok... your system can handle a 1050ti... it's performance is very close to 960 and exceeded it in a few benchmarks... i would not suggest getting a used 960. Now... additionally, the RX470 completely obliterates the 1050ti for just a little bit more $.... and... as an added bonus, there are 2 RX480s on newegg for $170

You have an old dual core CPU, with hyperthreading but still old. For this reason I don't think you need more than an RX 460/GTX 1050 level of card. I would not spend $130 on a used 960. You could get a brand new 1050 Ti for $10 more. Spend $100-$110 on the 460 or 1050. These cards do not require a 6 pin in most models. At the resolution you're running either of these cards would be excellent.

I might not NEED but can I use one? I've watched a tone of comparison videos over night and the rx 470 definitely out performs the 460 by a long shot. And the 1050 ti by a decent bit. I might not need a good graphics card but I want one. i have 2 monitors one of them is the one I showed which I've been using for my PC and my other one I had been using for my console. If I get one of these cards I plan on switching out monitors due to no vga cable and I don't think I have a dvi cable anywhere. I can tell you the other monitor is better than my current one which is why I was using it on my console because I played more console than PC but only because of my weak hardware. I really want to go all out and get the best of the best to be able to play any game I can throw at it for as long as possible.
