Hi everyone, I need a little help figuring out which steps to do first, I just purchased an internal ssd and have not installed it yet, I need to do a clean install of 10 but to my ssd instead,

I was thinking that i could do the fresh install without adding the ssd, and then clone the hdd to the ssd,
I am really not sure how to proceed from here, if anyone has any steps that I need to do in certain orders I would be greatful.
thanks
jeff

OK, yes...you can do that.
Download the ISO or USB install from here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Create your install media
Install on the SSD, in that same system

Or, you could try one of the current migration tools. This requires a bit of investigation into space requirements.

You need to do the Upgrade first, from your existing Win 7 install.
Later, you can clean install on the new SSD.

You can't do both at the same time.

sorry for the confusion, I have already upgraded to 10 on the pc from 7 a few weeks ago and have just picked up an ssd and was thinking that i could somehow do a clean install of the 10 just to the ssd and use the hdd for files ect

Ok great , so would go ahead and install the ssd in the rig, then go ahead with the iso, i am not familiar with the steps but just downloaded the iso that i will burn to a disk, since i don't have an ssd that large, so then i would use that disk how, just have the bios boot to the iso disk and go from there ?!

No, you have to make a bootable USB or DVD, and boot from that.

I have downloaded and created a bootable dvd of windows 10, do I need to find a key code on the pc ? also how do i get windows 10 to install to the ssd when i reboot with dvd.
thanks

I just wanted to share my out come of the swap to an ssd. I created the iso for windows 10 to a disk, disconnected the HDD from the pc and connected the SSD, rebooted and the bios automatically recognized the ssd and the windows 10 disk loaded up and The install was quick and painless, I am into qindows now loaded on an ssd and then shut down the pc so I could reconnect the hdd, rebooted and formated the hdd , installed steam to the hdd , downloaded the nvidia gtx 960 drivers , loaded Borderlands 2 and the game literally plays 1000 times better with this new configuration, fps without vsync was sitting at 125fps but a little jerky so I turned on vsync and unlimited fps in settings with high everything and distance set to far and the game is just soo sweet now . Before the game would dip to 30 fps in heavy battle but now never drops below the 60 refresh rate of my monitor on 1080p, all I can say is that all my builds will get an ssd from here on out , thanks for the help usafRet
