24" is the lowest I would go, and that is torturously low; like ruining gameplay type of low.
>/=32" is what I would be aiming for with a 16:9 gaming setup.

please add your real budget(what a fun experience in gaming is really worth) and your location so some real input on your options can be related.
I have a super thin desk. So if i have a large monitor that would be dumb

the size of the desk would not be an issue.
there are plenty of slim designed panels, wall mounts, and 3rd party stands available.

what's dumb is people who allow themselves to be limited by retail aspects of design.
