i built this rig a little after Christmas and i could not get the mobo to line up with standoffs with the foam so i removed the foam was i not supposed to do this? this computer has given me no problems at all i have been running games great and everything's working fine but now i am worried. i have a asus maximus viii hero motherboard. should i order a new motherboard and not remove the foam this time or will i be fine.

when i was building this computer i was pushing as hard as i could and it would not line up but after i removed the foam and just put the i/o shield on there with no foam it lined up perfectly right now all i have is the i/o shield on i dont have the foam on there

My old one had that, I, too, bent or broke them off. My current one was also a pain - way too much resistance against my motherboard. Took about 10 tries to get it aligned and it was just such a pain. I don't know why IO shields can't be made easier.

Mine wasn't that hard. Did take some effort to line everything up though. An IO shield integrated onto the motherboard itself would be much better.
