Question I put my new HDD onto its antistatic bag...

...and only a few days later came across discussions in which people say that this is a no-no because those bags collect static on the outside and would discharge into whatever you put onto it (the HDD in this case). Others say that's right, but that the conductiveness of the bags is so low that it doesn't matter, and others say they've done this for years with various components without any issue.

(What's adding to the headache is that there are different sorts of bags with different properties. I suppose the kind that ab HDD comes in is conductive.)

In my case, the contact lasted less than a minute, I think, the HDD is working fine and the full scans and S. M. A. R. T. scans I've done keep showing that all is good. But I'm concerned about damage that might show itself in a few weeks or months. I put in the HDD a week ago.

Now I'm considering to replace this HDD. Or am I worrying too much?

You're fine. Better chance of being struck by lightening than your HD getting damage sitting on a bag for a few days. People go through anti static straps, ground their body, build a suspension table free from gravity and assemble their PC's in a clean room. Me, on the carpet, for 30 years building PCs, no issues. lol. You should be more cautious than building a $4000 PC on a carpet, but not much. lol.

Lol, you're worrying too much. I'd be ashamed to admit how I have handled my HDDs over the years, all with no bad effects ever. ESD isn't going be generated from using the "wrong" anti-static bag. I've even had AMD CPUs with their exposed pins shipped to me wrapped in regular plastic wrap. Surprisingly, they all worked fine.
