No, you THINK you know it. That's the whole problem here. The CPU core of the E8xxx chips are perfectly functional, in fact, one of the best Intel has made to date. A faulty sensor isn't the end of the world. Like I said, they've always been flakey even at their most precise moments.
I think what it is, if I read it correctly at Intels site(yes you can read about it), is that the software will be caused to read the temperatures wrong.
So this whole hussle and bussle could just be that the software is not reading it correctly kinda like Speedfan dropping 15c from the Q6600 GO's.
As for seeing how Phenom is having their own issues and they haven't recalled them/replaced them, the ones with bad cores, they are just as bad.
I just love how big a deal people make out of this. It could possible be the mobo or software but instead pin Intel.
Also they didn't delay the Q9xxx for that. They delayed it for other reasons. If it was this cause it would have effected the QX9650 as well as the E8500 both of which have not been effected.
