I scratched my Mobo with Screwdriver, chances of problems?

Hello community,

I have had the unfortunate incident of accidentally scratching my Asus P8Z77-V Pro motherboard with a phillips screwdriver as I tried to install the spring loaded CPU Heatsink screw. Basically I wasn't careful enough and my autoscrewdriver (installing at a slight angle due to its bulkiness) slipped off and down once the screw became tight enough.

This caused a scratch on one of these two square prism type objects next to the CPU that sit on and come off the board. They are gray. Basically I scratched one of them enough where there is now a distinct mark of a lighter shade of gray. I suppose if it had to be somewhere that I stabbed my motherboard with, at least from my initial impression, it would be these 2 pieces.

The printed label on each of the pieces read 1R0 152 UCM on 3 separate lines. Does anyone know what these pieces are? The manual doesn't seem to provide this detail. What are the chances that this will affect the performance of the board and in what capacity?

I can post a picture of the area mentioned if needed.

if it is a little scuff will be fine as long as the leads on the bottom of the cap are not broken. most caps like that have a little paste inside of them. some are solid caps. as long as it not leaking you should be fine.

Thanks for your reply. No it is not; my part is a square metallic box, not a cylinder.

You are fine. My friend did this when he installed his MoBo. As long as you are not seeing bare metal you should be good to go.

About 4mm long/wide with two metal tabs?

Might be a 1uH surface-mount inductor and what chipped off would be a small chunk of its ferrite core. Unless you hit it hard enough to fracture or shatter it, it should have little to no effect.
