Mod Edit: Post moved to "Storage" forum as more appropriate.

So i somehow messed up my SSD drive when I made partitions. I somehow made a ssd of 250gb and made the rest into an hdd drive and not a SSD =/

When i check the performance tab on TM it shows one SSD and one HDD, and now I tried to bring unallocated space back into the ssd partition but ended up putting it into the hdd partition, this is my first time using an SSD, and any help to get one ssd drive again would be greatly appreciated please.

Show us a screencap of the entire Disk Management window.
(assuming a Windows install)

So I have one SSD which I partitioned and somehow turned it into an HDD and whilst I tried to fix it I think I made it worse.

drive C&E on disk 0
D on disk 1 (SSD)

its really not confusing as you keep saying.

Disk1 is the original SSD
Disk 0 is the partition from the SSD somehow made into an HDD
Disk 1 and DIsk 0 are the 2 physical devices.
Not partitions.

Disk 0, presumably a 2TB something, has a couple of viable partitions.
the C partition of 507.15GB, and the E partition of 1355.09GB.
Neither of which have anything to do with the Disk 1. Which has a single partition and volume of 238.47GB, identified as the D .

Right so the ssd was 1 disk when it was pre installed on purchase, on receiving it I partitioned the ssd leaving 250gb as the os disk and made the second disk as the data disk using all the remaining space.

C: was the ssd and the parition was the D: i then tried to fix it by making a new volume in the unallocated space, it turned that into E: on the same disk as C:

I made a big mistake somewhere and dont know how to fix it.

So looking at the HDD types in cmd it seems to be a wdc?

You have a 2TB WD spinning HDD.
Disk 0, which has 2 partitions...C and E
C is where your Windows OS is.

You also have a 256GB WD SN530 SSD, Disk 1, with a single partition identified as New Volume, with the D drive letter..
This SSD is currently 100% unused. No data on it at all.

this makes no sense though, when i orginally did the parition..there was only one drive in the disk management i swear on that.

it had one disk and that was the c:

okies if thats the case then I will get a better ssd.

Could you advise me the best way to make C: and E: the same size please? thanks for the help all.
1. You don't need a "better SSD".
That SN530 is just fine. Smaller than I would use, but it is an OK drive.

2. There is NO reason to try to make the C and E partitions the same size. They are simply 2 different partitions on the same physical HDD.

who made PC? Is it a brand name? what make/model?

Right so the ssd was 1 disk when it was pre installed on purchase, on receiving it I partitioned the ssd leaving 250gb as the os disk and made the second disk as the data disk using all the remaining space.

C: was the ssd and the parition was the D: i then tried to fix it by making a new volume in the unallocated space, it turned that into E: on the same disk as C:
so c is on the 2tb drive (507gb partition)
D is on the 250gb drive - the ssd
E is on 2tb (1355.09 gb partition)

If ssd was disk 1 on purchase, it was always the 2nd drive. As if it were only drive in PC at that point, it would get drive 0. Drive numbers start at 0. (its possible I misunderstood you)

You need to ask the people who made PC as it appears you got more than you expected

It is the HP Omen 25L model and I bought it from Currys.

I must apologise because some things you all have pointed out seem to not line up with what I have been saying, whether thats due to not building it myself and not fully understanding what they installed on it (it came boxed with no paperwork or system specs). I would of had them on purchase so again thats a my bad on me, I definitely will be making my own going forward.

I thought I was actually going crazy when I thought i turned an ssd into an hdd......

thank you all for explaining it for me, legends.
