I think MSI Live update screwed up my MOBO?

Hi! So I received all my parts and assembled my awesome new gaming build around 4 days ago. It worked perfectly for two days and I happily installed all the necessary software that the computer would need from the MSI website.... Well... then there was MSI live update.... So it came up with all the possible updates my MOBO would need, including my BIOS update. I downloaded it and Live update 'apparently' installed it so I shut down the computer before I went to bed and it was still working fine. The next day the power switch on the case didn't work... I turned the computer on via the PSU switch and it turned on for 4 seconds before shutting off again (wouldn't even post). I spent the last two days thinking it was a hardware issue, being either the power supply or the motherboard, and trying a billion different things to get it working. I opened up an RMA with the retailer and everything when I came across the MSI live update bios problems other people were having. SO! Do you guys think that this was definitely caused by live update or do you think it could actually be a hardware problem? And if it was live update do you know how I could fix it if it isn't even posting?

I don't know if you need it but here are the specs for my computer anyway?

If you selected the Update All function in Live Update, then it prolly tried to flash your BIOS at the same time that it was updating chipset driver, USB driver, etc. It is NEVER a good idea to use LU to flash a BIOS, let alone in combination with other Windows driver updates.

Looking at the MSI website, it does not appear that mobo has a dual bios, so your only hope is a CMOS reset. Unplug the power cord and either short out the reset pins on the mobo or remove the coin battery from the mobo for 1 minute, then replace it. Put the battery back in and try to POST the machine. Also check the manual. the mobo may have a CMOS reset button, which would be the easiest way to go. Whichever method you use, just BE SURE that the power is disconnected.

If you should get a POST, press the delete key and enter the BIOS. Press "F6" to "Load Optimized Defaults", then "F10" to "Save and Exit". Try to boot into Windows.

If it will not POST (Power On Self Test) then it is time for an RMA, IF they will take it back. If the vendor gives you any problems about the RMA, then just RMA to MSI and I'm sure that they will exchange it for you. MSI is real good to deal with.

Thank you so much for the quick reply! So stupid of me not to check any history on Live Update or even on how to properly update a BIOS T.T. But at least I had separately downloaded all of the other drivers before I downloaded the BIOS update through LU so it was being installed on it's own (If that even makes any difference). Can only hope that I can find a CMOS reset button on the MOBO somewhere :/...
