Question I think my hard drive died

today when i started up one of my external hdds was making a funny sound.

it starts spinning very fast. then 2 beeps and then stops all together. i could really use some help with how to fix this...
its an 8tb drive and has a whole bunch of important stuff on it

Why was there not a backup of this "important stuff"?

Drives die. All of them, eventually. May be 1 year, may be 20 years. But they DO die.
Sometimes, quite suddenly.
There may not be (probably isn't) an easy "fix".

What is the specific make/model of this?
