I unplugged my computer while it was on and it doesn't turn on anymore.

Basically what the title says. I hit the plug on accident and it came out and now my computer won't even turn on. Do I need to buy a new computer?

The power strip is on and the monitor is getting power from it.

Thank you. Which one do you recommend me to buy?

Not a new computer but maybe a new power supply. I had the same problem. Even though I shut down the machine down normally. If I turned off the UPS and later tried to turn everything back on the computer would not start, A new power supply fixed the problem.

Try removing the power lead from the computer.
Hold the power button down for 30 seconds to discharge the capacitors on the m/b.
Reconnect the power cable and make sure it's switched on!
Hit start.
I have this problem occasionally - once in a blue moon and this resolves for some reason.
I was in the process of buying another PSU until someone suggested this to me.
Worth a try!
Best of luck.....

Little summary, the power connection port of the used PSU is faulty and the power cable cannot be connected tightly enough so it would stay in the normal position. Because Carter11 lost connection between power cable and PSU more than once or twice while the system was powered on, it´s likely the PSU or even the system is faulty now.

The correct way like Max_x2 said, is to RMA the PSU and try/get a new PSU.

I agree with helpstar. Sometimes it is just wise to have it checked for a few bucks by a small business team that work with computers, and often times they can also fix what is wrong. However, since this is so new, I would look into the warranty. It should NOT do this even if you unplug it by accident. Yes, you can loose files etc, on such a turn off, but it should not have had a loose cord in the first place. My computer has been shut down often with a power outage, but never hurt my computer. I do have a great power bar with surge protection etc. So check with your dealer for the warranty and replacement of parts. It should have at least 1 year....but some only carry 3 months or 90 days. Always get more if it only covers that much. You may also find a replacement PSU on line...check that out, and replace it if they won't fix this for you. Let us know if you got it fixed! Cheers!

Before you spend any money on a new PSU, first ensure that ALL your electrical connections are tight. Specifically check out your front panel on/off power button connectors where they connect to your MB. If your MB has it's own power button then try using that instead of your chassis power button. If your MB does not have it's own power button then try turning on your system by 'shorting' across the chassis power button pins (where the front panel power button connects) on the MB - check YouTube videos on how to do this. 'Shorting' the power connections is a common way to check to see if a new rig will POST prior to installing it into the chassis.
