I used more than 80% of CPU in game??

This is my CPU and GPU usage


Recently I just updated my graphic card from gtx770 to gtx 1070 ti
I also updated my dead power supply from 600w to 750w.

My CPU remained the same, it is an intel core i7-4790 @ 3.60ghz

When I opened my task manager, there is nothing that could cost my cpu up to 90% usage, most programs only using 2-3 % of CPU at most. So why is it that when I'm playing game, my CPU shot up to 80-90%? I cannot get 300fps with a gtx1070ti in a game like csgo either, and when I put on maximum graphic setting in game, I'll get lag.

Is it an overheating problem?
CPU cannot handle GPU?
Or there are other causes?

Any help would be appreciate.

The CPU does a lot of work whilst gaming, feeding the GPU, So it is expected that the CPU is at 80%+ this is normal.

a CPU will stay quite busy keeping up w/ a good GPU...

As for your 'only 300 fps' issue with CS:go, update all chipset drivers and GPU drivers, as Nvidia comes out with new ones about every 10-15 days...

A fresh clean install solves most issues....

If it's normal then why do I have low frame rate in game with a gtx1070ti? My previous graphic card is a gtx770 (with the same cpu) can easily run csgo at 200-290fps, but the gtx1070ti is struggling around 100fps - 130fps.

I actually just deleted every drivers and reinstalled it.

Turn off Hyperthreading CS:GO doesn't work well with it. Are you looking at Total CPU usage or just the usage over a single core? Run MSI Afterburner and setup the overlay to view all cores, Temps, GPU and latency then see what you get. A i7-4790 + 1070 ti shouldn't have to put much of a effort at all to run that game. Not sure why you can about such high fps. 60hz you want 60 fps, 120hz you want 120fps, 144hz you want 144fps anything more is pointless, I would care more about lowest possible latency than highest possible fps in Shooter games.

I never used the bios before so I don't really know how that hyperthreading work. However, I never really need to turn that off even when I'm using gtx 770, so I don't think that was the problem.

FXAA over MSAA in game options. Less CPU power but can blur text and Hud elements at high resolutions.
Use VibranceGUI in the game settings

Or

Run Geforce Experience and let it optimize your settings for you with the exception of Hyperthreading and Multicore Rendering.

I see one core with hyperthreading being used which means either Multicore rendering isn't on or the cores are parked.

No I didn't turn on v-sync

My multicore rendering is disabled in csgo, I just turned it on and it actually increased my fps somewhat. I'll try the other option you said.
I was told multicore rendering will lower my fps, but it actually worked the opposite for me o.0

It a default cooler that came with the pc when I first bought the pc.

that nvidia Shadowplay seems to be causing people problems

Im bios, this is what I did
intel hyperthreading disable
Multicore enhancement disable
ACPI hpnet table disable

There is no hyperthreading in game option for csgo.
My fps is able to reach the 300 now, but it is not stable.
Sometimes it'll go from high 100 to 200 up to low 300
I'll adjust the bios around a bit more.

All you did was upgrade the GPU nothing else.

I actually have everything disabled in startup. I think I somewhat found out that the problem might be my cpu and my bios setting.

I have no idea why either. I actually upgraded the psu and gpu.
Though there was one time period where my cpu was high in temperature so I applied thermal paste to it. The temperature is lower now. Perhaps when I put the cpu back, it cause a problem.

I still don't get how fixing my bios help with my fps when all I did was upgraded my psu and gpu, but it did.
After messing with the bios a few more times, I am now having around 300fps and sometimes can even go up to 400.
I turned off hyper threading at first, but then turned it on again, and the fps is still stable, so since I'm playing other game as well, I am leaving hyperthreading enabled in bios.

I think the major fps boost is the multicore enhancement disabled, multicore rendering enable, and acpi hpet table disabled. I am happy with my current fps, if it is low again, I'll go back to hyperthreading off.
