Hello! As the title says, i wanna buy the new Radeon RX 480 8 GB as soon as it comes out, but I'm thinking that my computer will bottleneck. Here are my specs.
Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz skt 1366 Nehalem Box
Asus Rampage II Extreme
Sapphire Radeon HD5850 1GB DDR5 256-bit Display Port
ASUS Xonar-Phoebus
6GB DDR3 1600MHz CL9 Triple channel kit Black Frostbyte
OCZ Agility 3 Series 60GB SATA-III 2.5 inch
Samsung 1 TB SATA-II 7200RPM 32MB rpm Spinpoint F3
Corsair CMPSU-750TXEU
Cooler Master HAF 922 black
+ FullHD monitor
Will my computer bottleneck? If i buy a CPU cooler and OC it, would that resolve the problem?

Solution

I would not worry about it bottle necking your 1080p performance. I would post the Doom, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Counter-Strike: GO, Overwatch and Grand Theft Auto V benchmarks for the 480 but the moderators delete the post because the NDA has not lifted yet. The benchmarks went live as of 6 hours ago so you will have to Google them if you want to see. expect around OCed 970 performance for a 4gb non OCed 480.

Go for it man, your PSU should be just fine, im getting that card this weekend hopefully to put in my other system, im currently using a 7950 3gb boost and im pretty happy to see how well this new card does. i say go for it, if i were you id take time later to upgrade the CPU if you have the money for now the CPU shouldnt have any problems at 1080p, anything higher might be pushing it when its at 2.6 GHZ

your cpu is fine in a cpu hevey game you may be bottlenecked and lose 2-10fps and if that really bothers you ask your self id 10 fps in large cpu intensive games worth a 350$ cpu and motherboard upgrade
so just get the card your fine
hope it helps :)

Alright!
Thanks for the answers! Will buy a 470 or 480, haven't decided yet. Mostly i play only Wow, and I want to have 60+ FPS while doing 30 man heroics on maxed settings. Wanna try out Overwatch too!

I have almost the same setup as OP and I got the XFX RX 480 RS version, installed it and got absolutely nothing, no signal from the GPU to the monitor. There maybe a compatibility issue regarding latest cards requiring UEFI motherboard as my RX 480 powers up but the fans do not spin although I have not still ruled out the card being faulty. I would recommend you try someone else's card before you buy one yourself.

Yes, I have the asus rampage 2 extreme mobo and I can't for the life of me understand why the rx 480 ain't working. It worked on a seperate H81Z chipset motherboard.
